AAROGYA SURHUD
Education remains a challenge in our country. "10th fail" is a qualification one comes across often. In this situation girls are very often left with no choice but to work as maids.
"AAROGYA SURHUD" is an initiative aims at girls who have completed their schooling but have not cleared board examinations. The future for these girls is very bleak. They generally find employment in the form of domestic help or childcare help. It is interesting to note that these girls come from socio-economic strata where the families need the income that these girls generate. If these girls were imparted carefully structured training in nursing theory and practical, they would be employable immediately as nursing help to individuals and institutions.
We have identified similar spirited groups like ours though in other fields that impart basic theoretical nursing education to such girls. An auxiliary Nursing course which is available is a year long course with tuition fees payable. There is no possibility of earning during this time.
Girls who have received this theoretical training will do an internship through placement by us. We strive to provide a stipend to the girls and handling fees to the hospital. They receive practical nursing training for 3 months acquisition of this theory and practical knowledge will successfully result in more respectable employment for the girls. At a later date they could do a nursing course with their solid foundation and may find productive employment in small nursing homes.

COMMUNITY PROGRAMMES
At least on two Sundays each month, a team of doctors from “Nirantar Foundation” goes out in the community and conducts a 3-hour Community Outreach Program . This team visits societies, hutments, settlements covering all socioeconomic classes. It is an effort to build a bridge with the community that we so aspire to serve.
